The first comes from the field of aversion therapy. I am not a big fan of most of the techniques used in aversion therapy simply because they either don’t work or have short-lived results. Here is one of the techniques that is quite useful – especially in interrupting old patterns and making room for new patterns of behavior to develop.
3 SECONDS TO WEIGHT LOSS
Find yourself a rubber band and wear it around your left wrist. Find one that dangles a bit and isn’t constricting to blood flow.
Next, when you feel a craving come on for a food or beverage that just wouldn’t be helpful to consume, take your right index finger and thumb and pull the rubber band about 5 inches away from the inside of your left wrist. Then let it go. You will feel a minor sting – nothing that will damage you.
This 3 second exercise, when repeated regularly, will pair up the concept of pain with the inappropriate craving feeling. Your mind will learn this new pattern rather quickly and the result is less cravings resulting in less consumption.
The rubber band on your wrist will also act as a reminder of how committed you are to eating more healthfully and shedding unnecessary fat.
99 CENT DIET
I have received many emails requesting information on my 99 Cent Diet that they had heard about. It’s listed in Volume 16 of my newsletter and reissued here for those who are curious.
Anyone who has either been to or viewed my LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF Seminar in person or on DVD has heard me say that diets don’t work. Here’s a diet that isn’t a diet that will jumpstart anyone’s weight loss goals. I call it the 99 Cent Diet.
Having helped hundreds of thousands of people lose weight, I can tell you, with certainty, that if you are in a giant hurry to lose weight, you will put all the weight back on, and then some, after you lose it.
You may have a wedding, class reunion or some other special function coming up that you want to look slinky or slimmer for. The fastest and dumbest way to lose weight is to eat very little. Eat nothing but lettuce leaves and figs between now and your event and you will be slimmer and trimmer. People will ask you, “What are you doing? Weight Watchers? Jenny Craig? South Beach? Enjoy the compliments because they won’t last. That weight is coming back.
The next fastest way for you to lose weight is with hypnosis. Hypnosis communicates with the patterned part of your mind that does all the deciding about what and how much you eat and drink. Hypnosis re-patterns your mind and you suddenly become aware that you are making healthier food choices without conscious effort.
You find yourself gravitating towards foods and beverages that are better for you more often than you’ve done in the past. And you get extremely curious about the type of exercise that would be absolutely perfect for you and this curiosity will get you to begin that program, slowly at first, and build on it at regular intervals until it gets to the “just right” level for you.
Here is a great way to jump-start your weight loss program.
Just buy a 99-cent notebook and carry it with you everywhere you go for 7 days. I want you to religiously write down everything you eat or drink right after you eat or drink it. Don’t wait until a half hour later and do it from memory. If you lick salt from a pretzel box, write it down - right after you consume it. If you taste the soup with a spoon, write it down. You are fine-tuning your awareness.
Just by doing this easy exercise, you consciously increase your awareness of what you eat or drink, and in 7 days you’ll lose weight without going on a diet. I call it the 99-Cent Diet.
Hypnosis also increases your awareness even faster but it does it without you having to consciously record each eating or drinking episode. You become aware at a subconscious level of your food and beverage choices and you re-pattern your mind to automatically consume what is most productive for you.
